Generally Versiontracker is a passthrough to the original developer sites. So they don't actually store the downloads, they send your browser to the downloads of the original author's pages. That said, it's a great site since they track most of the known software by platform, version etc. I tend to go there first rather than hunt around on every product site trying to find where their updaters are stored. Another handy column to look at is the license so if you're looking for something free or shareware you can sort it that way.

versiontrackr.com and macupdate.com are the two main download sites recommended by southern maryland mac users group so though they may not be perfect there's likely loads of worse places to visit.

Is versiontracker.com a good place to get software? I got some software off there today. Is it bad or out of date or something? On Oct 18, 2007, at 6:54 PM, Jude DaShiell wrote:

I got it installed but couldn't do any adjustments to it. I got my copy off of versiontracker.com though.
