Hi folks,
Sorry for the constant barrage of questions, but this is my first
upgrade. How are people installing Leopard? I was thinking that I'd
do a completely fresh installation, but I think i remember reading
that Leopard was using a new filing system.
The new filing system is offered as an option in Leopard to provide
compatibility with Sun and other systems, the default file structure
is still HFS+ aka Mac OS Extended.
Is this likely to have any impact on my old files if I do a fresh
installation?
No, and a fresh installation is a good idea. Back up your entire Home
folder, make a note of your ISP settings and any other critical
information, then do a clean install and use the Migration Assistant
to copy your information back again. This method will allow you to
make mistakes and recover from them. It will also give you the most
stable system possible.
I also back up all my disk images from my Software Saves.
Cheers,
Anne
