Reading messages without using VO keys

Hi there,

In Tiger, I could read the majority of my messages by using Command +  
option + P to turn them into plain text, then I could just use the  
arrow keys. This no longer seems to work in Leopard, does anyone know  
why or have a solution. I preferred reading messages in this way.
