Dude I ddon't even know at this point. My problem is that I am not at home with my external drive, so backing up is a problem. If this is absolutely necessary, I thought about just getting a .mac account on the 60 day trial. I have my files and folders backed up on my hthumb drive, so I am not worried about installing the programs. Now what is most important is my e-mail accounts, messages address book along with Mail settings. Basiccly my whole Mail program upgrade worked for me. needs to stay in tact. For these reasons I can't figure out which installation will work that I can actually do that will not make me want to clean install once I get back home. I hate cluttered machines. I don't leave files on my computer that are not being used. So needless to say I want to wipe it clean and start fresh, but I need mail badly.

Sherl or anyone else who can answer this question. Can I copy the Library folder and do a clean install then use the Migration assistance to retrieve my files from my thumb drive once I have the new OS in and running?

Well, first make sure what didn't come along with you. If you checked the checkbox to preserve user directories and settings, you may find that most of your third party apps came along and you just need to see if they work. If you didn't check that checkbox, I think you probably would have been put through the whole setup process and would have been given the option to use Migration Assistant to import what you wanted. It's also possible of cou8rse to copy things directly from your Previous Systems folder but I would think you'd maybe want to give Migration Assistant a try first; I believe you can still use it even if you didn't get asked about it in setup.
