Main reason for moving splitter in Mail

Hello everyone,

The reason why I always get rid of the preview pane in Mail by moving  
the horizontal splitter is to avoid messages being opened  
accidentally. As soon as you land on a message in the preview pane,  
the message opens automatically which is why they are marked as Read  
even though you have not read them yet. Some spammers have a nasty  
habit of putting a 1-pixel link in a message, and this link alerts  
them to the fact that the message has been opened and that the email  
address is genuine. I prefer to keep this information away from as  
many spammers as possible. I am quite happy to live without the Jump  
command if that is the price to pay to minimise the amount of spam I  
receive.
