To get to the top / bottom of the message list, do: voKeys+shift+home / voKeys+shift+end
Omitting the shift key takes you to the top/bottom of the "visible" list, which is not what you want most of the time. ANother neat trick is that if you want to quickly read down the subject column, tab to the message list and then use voKeys+rightArrow to move across the row till you hear the subject (or whichever column your interested in), then use voKeys+downArrow to move down the table, remaining in the current column. VoiceOver will then read only that column.
