Sorting by Thread

OK, I have thought about sorting by thread,but I have a couple  
questions.  Could different threads be put into different mailboxes?   
I mean threads fro mthis list?  Or is that too complicated?

How does it work, anyhow?  Does it tell you how many messages are in a  
thread, and all of that?
