sorry, that's the checkbox but I guess it doesn't do what you want.

Interesting, I can't find this button anywhere. ick!

I've just gone through network (getting there both from Airport in status bar, and via system prefs) and I've only been able to find a check box which says ask to join new networks, which I've obviously checked... <smile> :)

I clicked the advanced button, but nothing there either. This is annoying... <smile>

I think I may have come up with a work 'round which will simply involve having it not remember any networks and remembering to turn off cursor tracking when the networks dialogue comes up, asking me to join... This is kind of obnoxious, but it might work...

David, if I'm still somehow looking in the wrong place, please do let me know, if you would, K?... thankie!...

Have a great day!...

Hi CQ,

There is an ask to join an open network button in the airport under network.

Hey All, I'm wondering if there's a way I can set my Airport prefs to ask me for each network I join, no matter whether it's in my preferred networks or not?...

By this, I mean, rather than just turning off the 'remember the networks this computer has joined' option, I'd like to keep that on, so I still do have a list of preferred networks, but simply be asked if I'd like to connect to the next one in the list if the usual suspects aren't found?...

<smile>

the standard show all networks dialogue sort of thing is really a PIMA with VO, in my opinion, (as it tries to focus on the paswd field as soon as each new network is selected) so I'm wondering if there might be another way to simply tell it not to auto join any networks (preferred or otherwise) and simply try to connect / ask me for the preferred ones first, before it goes for the general dialogue?... lol! Am I making sense?... <smile>

I did search help, and brought up the Airport utility, which promptly crashed VO to the point that I needed to totally restart the system. ICK!!!

Anyway, thanks bunches for any help / suggests...

XOXOXO

Cara  :)
