Hi Rafael,

This doesn't address the instability of Safari 3 on the PowerPC
Macs under Tiger, but have you considered using the text-only
version of the npr.org web page? As Anne mentioned, npr.org
is a busy site. If instead you go to the text-only web page at:

http://thin.npr.org/

there are only 40 items in the link chooser menu instead of 256,
and links to the five minute summary hourly newscast and the
24-hour stream are the second and third links that open nicely
with flip4mac. You can even arrow down the page without using
Link Chooser, and after the date followed by the links for
(1) the five minute summary and (2) 24-hour stream you'll get to
the links for the top news stories. Each of those linked pages
gives the link to listen to the story at the top, followed by a brief
text summary and links to similar text pages for related stories.

After the top news story links on the main text-only web page
are a set of ten links organized by topics (News, Politics & Society,
Business, etc.) and an alphabetically ordered set of links to
specific programs (All Songs Considered, All Things Considered,
etc.)

Incidentally, I'm not sure that the problems with Safari 3 are all due
to the new version of this program. According to the macfixit.com
site, there seem to be many people finding that the Safari 3
version that was released with OS 10.4.11 is behaving erratically.

Cheers,

Esther
