reading file names

When i clik on a folder that has a thousand files in it, is there any  
way to navigate through it where it oesn't say row 1 immage, then the  
file name?
I tried VO dow arrow, but it still keeps saying it.
Guys, i hope i'm not trying to be a pain about playing music, but  
itunes seems wy too complicated.  I wanna keep it simple.
I can't find when i do command O in itunes, my harddrive, and it  
should be a lot simpler than this.
Could i do what i want to do inV LC?
