OK could anyone tell me how to remove mail accounts from my MacBook, it's running leopard.
Go to Mail Preferences (Command-comma), select the Accounts tab,
interact with the Accounts table, select the account you wish to
delete, stop interacting with table, navigate down then right and
click on the Remove Account button.

also my keyboard is set to British english yet the quotes and at keys etc are situated in the wrong place i.e. in the american layout but with a £ key if you see what i mean.
Your keyboard is in the Apple British layout. If you change it by
remapping the keys, you will be lost on any other Mac you happen to
want to use. It's much better to get used to it as it is. Try the
Keyboard practice (Control-Option-k and Escape to leave practice mode).

I have loaded neo office on my machine also but if I open a new document I can't get phocus on the edit area, any suggestions.

Neo-Office is not accessible. For word processing you have TextEdit
that comes with the machine, you can download iText which is free and
improves on TextEdit, you can buy Nisus Writer or you can be
adventurous and try Latex.
For a spreadsheet application, your only choice is Tables, of which
there has been a great deal of discussion here recently.

I also tried using audacity but can't get any feedback from it any help on any of these, as always, would be appreciated.
I can't help with Audacity.

Cheers,

Anne
