Great idea, and you can still have Windows and Jaws on your Mac if
there are things the Mac OS can't yet do.
Has anyone been using Voceover with refreshable Braille?
Yes, I do and I love having braille.
I am a Braille user, and I wouldn't like to give my Brraille display
up.
For the time being, Leopard only supports a limited number of
refreshable USB braille displays. I use a PAC Mate 20.
I also want to know whether anyone has used Voiceover with foreign
languages. I use Jaws with Welsh, French, Greek and want to start
learning other languages like Russian.
I use VoiceOver with French which works great although there are some
keyboard issues when using the French keyboard layout as the numbers
require the shift key.
As Will has already said, only American English braille has been
implemented as yet but it can be set to uncontracted braille which
makes it manageable for other languages as long as they use the Latin
alphabet.
I have not been able to find any speech synthesis for Greek for the
Mac, but I only spent about ten minutes searching. It's always a good
idea to let Apple know if there is something specific you need. If
they don't hear from us, how are they to know what is wanted?
I'm sorry not to be of more help with Greek and Russian.
Cheers,
Anne
