This keyboard stuff really gets my goat with ~Fusion, probably more than the performance sacrifices. Thuy, do you know if Vmware are aware about not all commands being passed through? If there's any sort of bug submission process it might be worth a few of us doing it.

Subject: Re: Fusion questions

Hi Cheryl. I run system access fine with fusion. I'm afraid the issue
of keyboards is slightly tricky because of a couple of reasons.
Firstly, the apple keyboards don't have an insert key. Although system
access can use the caps lock, unfortunately, fusion won't pass it
through to the guest operating system, so that whenever you press it,
you just hear 'caps lock on' etc. The only way I've been able to get
round this is to remap the right alt key to be an insert key. Also,
the left alt and windows keys are swapped around, so I remap those
too. Even then, some of the key combinations involving the control and
left alt aren't passed through for some unknown reason e.g.
control-alt-s to start system access. You have to press command (alt)
and letter g to grab the input for the windows virtual machine. Then
to get it back to fusion itself, you press control and command
together. I've found also that you have to uncheck the checkbox to
allow apple keyboard shortcuts in the fusion preferences, otherwise
when you press alt-tab to cycle around windows, it sees it as
command-tab and therefore cycles between mac application windows and
therefore takes you out of the virtual machine. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thuy

Well, after a lot of hassles--the final one with Fed-Ex--my nonfunctioning
new mac mini is on its way back(probably there by now) and the new one
should arrive within hours. What did we ever do before package tracking?!!! I'm thinking that I may decide to add Windows via Fusion fairly soon after
getting my computer up and running. I have a few questions.

1. I'm used to running the mini without a monitor. Am I going to need to
find some kind of monitor before I can install and use Windows under Fusion
and if so does it matter at all what kind of monitor I use as long as it
connects?

2. Once I have Windows installed and Fusion running, can I install screen
readers per normal with cd or download or are ther modifications I need to
make in the process?

3. Is anybody yusing System Access with Fusion and is it working ok? I also
own Windoweyes and I have the JAWS demo but I do use System Access a lot.

4. I understand I can use a Mac keyboard; I saw a chart of keyboard
differences in the Getting Started Guide for Fusion. But can I use either
the old or new bluetooth keyboard or will I need to go back to the USB one?

5. I'm assuming I need the same level of anti-virus protection and
anti-spyware as on a
Windows pc. I've been using spybot and nod32. Is anybody else using these
and are there any problems with using them with Fusion?

Tia.
