Hi. Here's our experience regarding the subject of ntfs and the mac, as new as we both are to the mac.

When my wife got me this 750 gig usb drive, we first hooked it up to our airport extreme router. The airport utility said there was a problem with te volume so we decided to plug it into the mac. I should back track a bit and say that I put the drive on my windows xp achine first and it was, of course, ntfs. I didn't know you couldn't write to ntfs with mac so was surprised to see that it said read only. So, after we reformated the drive to fat32, because it wouldn't let us format it with the other option for some reason, we plugged it back into the usb port of the airport router. It worked for a couple of minutes but then crashed the whole network. We looked on apple's support site and they said that the problem should be resolved with a new firmware update. Other people in forums were having the same problem and they said rolling back the firmware helped. So now, we just have the drive hooked up to the usb port of the windows xp machine and it seems to be working okay.

We were hoping that we could use it from the airport but maybe after the next update, we'll try that.
