Yes, it's under the accounts preferences, under personal or profile,
depending on the IM service.

Hi
It's a bit tricky, but here's what you have to do.
1. Go to preferences.
2. Press the events button
3. Interact with the outline there, the events'll say things like
"blank button collapsed" but if you press vo+h it'll tell you what
event you're on.
4. When you find the event you want, click the add button to add
another action to it. Select "speak the event aloud" from the
choices there and set the speech settings the way you like.
Do this for every event you want spoken aloud. I'm not sure if
it'll tell you what contact signs in or out, I'll have to test that.

How do you get messages to read automatticly?
Also, is there a way to make it read who signs in/out?
Thanks.

Hi
Just FYI, I'm using Adium 1.2b7. What I do is have it set to
automatically read all incoming messages, as we can't yet
currently interact with the scroll area that contains the
message text. I did however, make an interesting discovery. It
seems that the scroll area is simply a container control for an
html control, just like the one we use on the web--you can see
this if you move keyboard focus to the toolbar and tab a few
times, you'll wind up in the message text area. It doesn't help
us to read it, since VO's cursor won't go inside, but it does
give me a clue as to what's going on and perhaps the devs will
fix it when I explain to them exactly what the problem is.
However, when I'm reading messages automatically and miss
something, command+l takes me to the chat transcript viewer. The
text area inside that window is fully accessible. It's not the
most efficient way to IM, but I've found it more reliable than
the msn transport through Jabber and more convenient as well.

Hi all,
Well, in the stable release of Adium, when you whent through
your contact list, it would only say, "Available contact" or
"away contact, "Offline Contact", and so on. Now, it says the
name of the contact, and there status, just how you'd expect.
What I still don't get however is that everyone I talk to when
I send a message it says that the person appears to be offline
when they really aren't, or at least I don't think they are.
Anyone else have these issues? Well we may just have an
accessible, easy to use, no server configuration needed
messenger client fully accessible soon. Another thing I also
couldn't do is read messages. Than again, this is only my
second time using this Application, but at least the versions
are improving and not getting worse.
Everyone should try this out. Get it from http://adiumx.com
Regards.
