I couldn't agree more and I really don't know of a laptop that is getting more than maybe 5 hours at best and of course this is constant running,. I've had a laptop nearly last an entire day by putting it to sleep during the periods of time I didn't need it. Of course I had the charger and power near in the event I needed it.

for reference regarding this I am talking as a life long laptop user.

from my days with old apple laptops windows laptops, pro end laptops and the likes the LCD screen does not draw much power from the supply. to be honest the battery will only last to a maximum of about 4 to 5 hours as cara rightly
says.

its best leaving it alone really. a laptop is meant to have some use all round. so let it all just work naturally and fluid like without a glitch and it will serve you well. laptops by their very nature do use some power. even when I have been on the road and used my power pack up I have a spare and jump start the laptop with the charger. then swap the battery over if its serious.

do please remember though that if you are on the road with it all day as an example please do take your charger just in case as it will save your life.
if you're in the office and the notebook is in standby then put it on
charge. its common sense
