Hi Jason,

You said: It's my first time doing this. I've just created a play list to burn a CD for someone and now want to rearrange the order of things. Is this something we can do? I just did a search and got mixed results on this, but none seeming to come from mac visionaries.

TK: In the sighted world, the user sorts things by the first column of the playlist then drags the songs up and down dropping them wherever they please. VO seems to have problems with this process. I can sort things by the first column using VO-shift-back slash which puts it in custom order. Using VO commands to Drag and Drop after that did not result in what you're hoping for. All it did for me was duplicate whatever song I dropped the mouse on. Now, the work around I've figured out is to do the following:

• Select the given Playlist.
• Press cmd-j to bring up the View Options.
• Check the box for Comments which will place the Comments field as the last column in the Songs Outline.
• Interact with the Songs Outline.
• For each item in the Playlist, press cmd-i to Get Info on the item, select the Info tab then navigate to the Comments field. • Place "01" in the Comments field of the song you wish to be first and "02" in the second and so on. Rather tedious but workable in a playlist of 15 to 20 songs that would fit on an audio CD. • Once you've put the numbers in, then navigate to the Comments column and press VO-shift-back slash to order the playlist according to the Comments column. If by chance it sorts them backwards the first time, simply press VO-shift-back slash again to flip the sort order.

A few things to note though. If you've selected the Info tab within the Get Info dialog, you will not need to do that every time as that will be the tab selected on subsequent times you enter the Get Info dialog. Using the Item Chooser menu brings you to the Comments field the quickest. Simply press VO-i then type "Comm" to quickly bring focus to the Comments field. If you've put other information in the Comments field, then simply put the "01" and "02" etc as the first text in the field and it should then be sorted properly.

Hope this works for you. it's not entirely pretty but it does work. If someone has something more pleasant, by all means, let us know.

Later...
