Dan, if this is a WEP password, do you know whether it is set for ASCII or
Hex entry?  I recalled that some routers use one or the other format.  I
found this Apple document on "AirPort: Joining an encrypted Wireless 
network"

and you might try putting the ASCII password in double quotes.
If it's HEX, some passwords can be entered with a dollar-sign, "$"
(not in quotes when entered) before the password.
