Hi Jane,

It has an optional external super drive for $99 that connects via USB if you really want it. Personally, that's probably what I'd get and then I would have it if I needed it, but I wouldn't lug it around with me all the time. I like having my DVD drive in my MacBook, but I use it rarely and it would be nice not to have to carry it around.
