It reminds me a lot of the PowerBook Duo from the past

which compromised capability and connectivity for light weight and battery life. For those who had them they really liked the light weight but no drive or basic IO was a major compromise. I think they just dusted this old idea off sans dock. Oh, and a battery you can't change out ala iPod.

Hi all.
well here in the UK my local apple store has taken on a couple of the macbook air machines. so naturally I've had a chance to play with it. well yes its thin. wow. really thin indeed and the keyboard is rather strange. it lacks the feel of the traditional powerbook and macbook pro keyboard but its still the same ish lol. well lets look at a few rather daft things here. an extra large bloomin trackpad. well ok its cool to have a trackpad that you can do so much with but when it encroaches the keyboard by aprox 1/2 inch its not something I would want. well here is the big bit. reduced I.O. connectivity. 1 usb port, mini DVI port and magsafe connectors.. please be aware that there is NO DVD SUPERDRIVE on this machine. instead you are required to purchase a companion DVD drive designed by apple or use a program called remote disk. remote disk being the feature whereby you mount your source media to a windows PC or MAC and use over a WIRELESS port. this can present a rather different series of problems. as there eis no ethernet connector and only wireless installed you will need to have wireless networking. no good for the likes of me running a studio or dealing with customers when sometimes a cable ethernet is needed. for the price I would say its worth it and by god it is light indeed. good sound quality and something that students or on road business users would find handy. anyhow its only an opinion so please dont shoot me. I've been an apple user for a long time and am used to powerbooks etc that are more feature opacked and do their job. take for instance at the time it was produced a powerbook g which I am now an owner of after aquiring from a friend. never used, perfect condition and has that design I love. lew
