can't open ichat

Hey guys, alright, i need your help, i'm a little worried here.  Even  
after a reboot, i can't see anything in ichat.  It said i am  
connected, but when i go vo left nd right arrow, it dings, and i can't  
see my buddylist or anything.
Has anyone ever had this happen ?
I can't get out of this mode.  The only thing i can do is start and  
end the program.  I can't see my buddylist or anything
