does it do this with every card? every file?  you might have a bad reader or 
a bad card or a bad cable.

the card is a 2 gb card, but my reader connected via USB supports HC
cards, too
the file was around 200 meg
i got it to work in the end, sometimes it transfers fine, other times
it just acts like ia hve ejected the card during transfer when i ahven't
