Hi Jude,

You need to expand the folder that iTunes creates when you subscribe to a
podcast to access all the individual episodes.  Interact with the podcast 
folder in the songs outline and use VO-keys+backslash to expand the
folder.  You'll get all the episodes individually listed, and will be able to
play the earlier episodes.  VO-keys+backslash acts as a toggle switch,
so you can use it to collapse podcast folders (and radio streams) when
you're positioned at the top level (folder) entry for your podcast, too,
