changing the formatof the date that appears before an original message in mail?

Hi all, I noticed that in my case here, the format of the date that  
appears before an original message in mail, is for example: 1-Feb-08,  
and others have theirs appearing as Feb1-2008  I'd like to change mine  
so it will be like that, how do I go about doing this?
