Jacob,
Glad to get your note. I love these headphones, but alas, the battery
life is there downfall. I have never really tested it myself, but if
you will go to http://www.mobiletechreview.com and do a search on 590
you will find their review. It is an excellent review, and it is what
led me to purchase the phones. I love the sound, whatever others
might say. Yes, it is compressed, but when you're listeing to Celine
Dion after midnight, who cares if she is compressed or not, right?
Even my wife loves to listen to them, but she is more apt to listen to
some hairy-legged guy. She loves the phones, though, so there, that's
two opoinions for you. Also, I did a podcast on these a few months
back at http://feeds.feedburner.com/shaneslivejournal and so you might
be interested in that if you're into podcasting. Take care, and keep
us informed on how it goes with you.

Hi Shane
The 590's are one of the models I'm looking at. I did some serious
research on this last night and found out that leopard supports the
a2dp audio protocol, whereas tiger did not. So, I've been looking at
all headsets that are a2dp capable, as without that all you have is
headset or handsfree, which are not suited to doing things such as
listening to iTunes. I've always loved plantronics headsets, in fact
the USB headset which lasted me over two years was a plantronics
DSP-500, as was the one I had before it, which lasted a good three
years. I have to say the dsp-500 became one of my all time favorite
headsets, and I wish I could easily get one again. However, since
it's been discontinued and apparently is still popular, to buy it
now would cost almost double what I paid for it in the first place
when it was current, and some of the bluetooth offerings from
plantronics and motorola are cheaper. Some people say that a2dp,
since it does compress audio, doesn't resort in perfect cd quality,
but I'm not one of those who has the ears to tell a 192kbps mp3 from
a 256kbps one like some can, so I probably don't have to worry about
that. And the wireless part is sure convenient. I'd just have to
supplement it with a bluetooth keyboard :). One thing that has me
concerned is the issues some people are experiencing with the a2dp
implementation under leopard, but this seems to be highly headset
dependent and a rare enough problem that it probably won't prevent
me buyinga BT headset at this point. Not to mention I could also use
any bt headset with my Linux machines, which is another plus for me.
Just out of curiosity, how is the battery life on your 590's? I'm
likely to have the headset on for most of the day, so battery life
is an important factor for me to consider.
I'll keep you all posted on my findings

Hello, all. I am totally interested in this Bluetooth thread, and
I can tell you this. As of last evening, my Plantronix Pulsar
590A's are working beautifully with Leopard on my MacBook. I was
able to take my Bluetooth keyboard and put the phones on my head --
what a fine sound!!! I was able to walk through the house, and my
wife thought I was absolutely nuts, and she was right!!! I just
thought you all might be interested in my findings. Try these
590A's. There awesome.

What I read was that tiger did not support A2DP bluetooth stereo
audio; admittedly I don't know much about what that is. I don't
have the link but this was at discussions.apple.com and was a
December 2007 posting.
