I also want to add that this seems to be the case with Adium. I still can't change my icon, and since I don't know when it's being used, I'm forced to use Windows for Messanger and the Mac for everything else. Please, can someone help me solve this problem? How do I delete the automatic pictures and choose an icon from the pictures folder? When I try to choose one, the Mac behaves as it does when I'm using Safari.
