Hi Tim and Greg, Interesting. Greg's Automator workflow is different from the the one on Tim's page. On my system (Tiger), I still run into difficulty navigating folders using this, just as with the execution of the additemtodock from terminal.
Greg's "addtodock" runs the shellscript through Automator. The one that's on Tim's page uses an AppleScript that also tells finder to set the chosen file to the selection as alias and runs the shell script on the quoted form of the POSIX path. On my system (Tiger), these additions will preserve the hierarchical file structure of folders placed in the dock.
