Use Super Duper, it's world renowned and works well with Time Machine.  
These two programs will do exactly what you need and more. I am  
looking around for a savings for Super Duper but it's reasonably  
priced at $28. You can find it here http://www.shirt-pocket.com/ It  
even does allot with the free version.
