I noticed while browsing macupdate.com that Readiris Pro 11.6.2 (OCR
software) is out. As a user of Readiris Pro 11.5.3, I wondered if an
upgrade was available. Clicking the link at macupdate.com took me to
a page that would let me buy the full version for the full price,
but contained no hint as to whether an upgrade path was available.
Searching the Iris site drew a blank, so I sent their tech support a
short query.
Their answer kind of surprised me, but it was 'yes, if you contact
us.' In their email reply to me, they stated that "...because of
piracy issues, we provide updates only to customers who contact us."
So if you're a Readiris customers, drop them an email to get your
free upgrade to the latest version.
