http://homepage.mac.com/kilburns/voiceover/downloads.html http://w3.wmcnet.org/vo/workflows add to dock Hi Matthew, Which workflow for adding items to the dock did you download? There's one at Greg's site: http://w3.wmcnet.org/vo/workflows and there's one at Tim Kilburn's site: http://homepage.mac.com/kilburns/voiceover/downloads.html Tim's download has a Read Me file that gives instructions for how to install. If you downloaded Greg's workflow you can follow a modified version of the instructions given below. Instead of working with the "Send To Dock" workflow, you'll be working with Greg's "addtodock" workflow. In both cases you open the workflow in Automator and save it as a Finder plug-in. Then you use it from the contextual menu of finder as described under the Procedure section (slight differences between Tiger and Leopard -- in Leopard you have to go to the "More" menu items to access the workflow). The full instructions are appended at the end of this message. Hope this helps. Cheers, Esther P.S. There are slight differences between the two workflows. On my Tiger installation I can use Tim's workflow to navigate file subfolders quickly to play my podcasts and music. For some reason I can't do that with the original additemtodock utility and Greg's workflow which is a shell script wrapper around additemtodock. The workflow at Tim's site uses an AppleScript to also identify the selected files as aliases, and this seems to give me extra navigation capability. It may not make a difference if you're using Leopard, since this feature is no longer present for the Leopard dock. <begin excerpt from Tim's installation instructions> Installation 1. Mount the AddItemToDock .dmg from this folder. 2. Open the "AI2D 0.0.7" disk image. 3. Open the "AddItemToDock" installer and follow all instructions. 4. Open the "Send To Dock" workflow from this folder. Either press cmd-o or double-click on the workflow. This will open the Automator app. 5. Once in Automator, go to the File menu and choose "Save As PlugIn". 6. Navigate right to the "Save PlugIn As" field and type "Send To Dock" (without quotation marks) as the filename. 7. Navigate right to ensure that the "PlugIn for" pop-up reads "Finder". 8. Navigate right to find the "Save" button and activate it with VO-space or press return. 9. Quit Automator and eject the AI2D disk image. Note: You can replace items #4 through #8 by simply copying the "Send To Dock" workflow into the Finder folder of your Workflows folder if you are familiar with its location. Procedure To add items to the Dock, do the following: 1. Navigate to the item you wish to add to the Dock. 2. Press VO-shift-m to bring up the Contextual menu. 3. Press "mo" (m-o) to take you directly to the "More" menu item. 4. Navigate right to open the sub-menu which will land you on the "Automator" item. 5. Navigate right again to open the Automator sub-menu. 6. Navigate down to choose the "Send To Dock" Automator workflow. and press return. The selected Finder item will be placed on the Dock at the far right just before the Trash. Note that in Tiger, the Automator menu item is at the first level of the Contextual menu and thus it is not necessary to go under the "More" menu to access it. <end excerpt from Tim's installation instructions?
