TG: Does it matter what brand of DSL modem you are using as respect to the router's data rate?
TK: I wouldn't think so. The DSL modem should only affect the speed of the connection to the Internet. Your ISP and their bandwidth limitations will determine the Internet access speed. The network speed within your home network between devices is not affected by the DSL modem. The Airport Extreme uses iEEE 802.11N technology with multiple antennas to increase range and speed. Wow, I sound like a Apple salesman here. the 2Wire is actually a very nice network solution, I simply know the Apple products info better.
