You said: In trying to use Dashboard the suggestion that was made was that VO F2 pressed twice would bring up the menu. This didn't work for me. I also went in to system preferences and reset all the shortcut keys to their default setting without success.

TK: If you're using a MacBook, you may need to press fn with the VO- f2-f2 command depending on your settings. Does VO-f2-f2 bring up the Window Chooser menu when not in Dashboard? If it does, then in essence, all you're doing by pressing VO-f2-f2 when in Dashboard is bringing up the Window Chooser menu so that you have all the installed Dashboard Widgets available. to you.
