and you can always get external audio for the MacBook if you want better or more robust audio than it contains.

I will say it comes down to what you plan to do with it. Louis uses his for recording and other such activities and as a professional, it makes sense. I for one like the standard unit mostly for the size. I got a standard at the office and the sound is good, not great, but good and is fine for me. If you have the money, of course get the best bang for the buck, but if your trying to keep within a budget, then a standard will likely meet all your needs. Of course you can always get a standard and then try and upgrade within the allowed time.
