Josh et al;
First off, sorry for the response lag, have just been out of town
with lousy web access. Ick! Josh, I'm wondering if this topic might
not be a good one for coverage in either your podcast or an article on
Lioncourt.com?… It seems that quite a few peeps are confused on
either side of the fence so to speak regarding Dom vs Group mode.
For myself, I love the idea of group mode as I too, really would
rather know what a page looks like, rather than having a piece of
software arbitrarily digest it for me and rearrange it again.
However, in my current work-related applications I need to quickly
access an element in the middle of very large / complex pages and read
from there. As in, locating a photog's portfolio and immediately
jumping to a phrase or title that I already know exists and then
reading on from there for a bit. I.E. reading someone's references
or resume / bio etc.
I find that with DOM mode, I can more quickly move from page
element to page element and since it's a work thing, rather than a
leisure thing, my desire to understand the visual layout of the site
is really not an issue, and rather, I just need to get the content I'm
after and move on. <smile>
As I'm writing this, a work-around is coming to mind that I haven't
tried yet, which is to use the item chooser, so will give that a go.
This really illustrates my point above though, in saying that some
coverage of this very issue might be a terrific thing to think about
for the site. <smile> It might just clear up a whole lot of
misunderstandings people may have, one way or another, and help most
users have a way better surfing exp in the process!
Anyway, of course, any thoughts / feelings you may have would be
great!
Have a great evening and chat witcha on the flip…
Smiles,
Cara :)

Hi Josh.
Try to look at the Audiogames forum at:
www.audiogames.net
and navigate around between the messages. On my Mac, VO does
automatically stop the interacting and I must start from the top of
the page again. This is very annoying because this is a very big
website.
I just read through several page of posts on those forums, using
grouped mode, without any problem whatsoever. That's interesting.
THe problem you mentioned I've seen occasionally, but not very
consistently, and not at all on the AudioGames forum. It may have
something to do with the way you have your cursor tracking set, or
that you are using DOM mode, possibly.
