But is would be nice to just have the option of turning off the trackpad and or the button under it.

Hi,
Yes, you can turn off the trackpad. Go to System Preferences and select Universal Access. Next select the Trackpad and Mouse tab. There is a checkbox at the bottom of the window that says Ignore trackpad when mouse keys are on". Check it and then click the Mouse Keys On radio button. You can also check the box that allows you to turn this feature on and off by pressing the Option key 5 times.

Hi,

I'm wondering if there's any way to turn off the touchpad, or whatever
it's called, on the Macbook. I know my HP had a function where you
could lock the mouse but I see no such button here. Sometimes, I
accidentally hit it and it's very annoying cause it brings me to the
apple menu or otherwise interrupts what I'm doing. I'd really like to
be able to disable it. Btw, incase I ever need to enable it again,
how do I do that?

Thanks,
Tiffanitsa
