a question

Hi Guys, my mac has been doing strange things lately. Like i'll be 
listening to a podcast or audio book on itunes and mail or software 
update comes up by itself. I want to erase the hard drive and 
re-install mac osx. My question is i'd like to save my safari settings 
for comcast high speed internet but don't know how to do this. Any help 
would be appreciated.
