This is good info, but it was the fan. I sent it to Apple on Tuesday
and got it back yesterday shiny and cleaned. I will keep this for
future referance.

Would be nice to inspect what the SMART status is of your drive
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.
There is an add on to do this called SMARTReporter
http://www.corecode.at/smartreporter/index.html
which seems to be inaccessible, but it does write out the drive
state into a log file located at
~/Library/Logs/SMARTReporter.log
I found another utility called DriveSMART but it hasn't been updated
since osx 10.3 and just crashed when I ran it
http://www.compuapps.com/download/driveSMART/mac/macdriveSMART.htm
which is not free but you can try it out long enough to get to the
fail/pass result at the bottom of the window.
Hope this helps.

Listers my wife was on Boot Camp earlier today and the computer
started making a grinding noise. It doesn't come from one
particular area of the computer persay it just is a constant
running noise. I don't know how to diagnose fan or har drive
problems so I wanted some help from you guys in running whatever
test you all can recommend. What do you all suggest. I can turn the
PC off and turn it back on in either Windows or Mac and the noise
is the same right from boot up. Other than that I don't know what
else to say. Thanks in advance
