The screen has to scroll in order for VoiceOver to keep reading. In order to do that, VoiceOver has to interact with the control and move the insertion point. I personally prefer that VoiceOver doesn't try to assume what I want it to do. It makes sense that it will only read what's visible on the screen unless you tell it to do more, IMO. The screen reader making assumptions is one of the things i hate most about Jaws.
