Hello folks,

on friday , I will have my first mac! :)

to backup my data from me linux desktop to my macbook , I should use a external usb-disk. Because, my network of the desktop isn't working anymore so that's not a option.

So, I think, the fastest way should be to make a bit by bit copy of the linux-partition to the usb-device.
On linux , I think on the program dd.

When I do like this, the data on the usb-stick will be also stored on a partition with a ext3-filesystem.

Can a mac read ext3-filesystems of a usb-device easily?

If no , which filesystem should I use instead?

if someone has other suggestions to backup my files from the desktop to the laptop, please, tell me.

thanx in advance,
William Windels
