My understanding of video subtitles was that they are encoded into the
NTSC video stream and aren't generally available as a separate file.
This how they know which bit of text to show when because it's right in
there with the audio and video content.

My boyfriend Spiros and I want to watch a movie in Greek and I'm
wondering if VO could handle reading subtitles with VLC Media Player,
or something else, on the Mac. If not, then he could translate for
me, but it would be alot easier this way. If VO can't read them
during the movie, then would it be possible for me to open a folder or
something with the subtitles in it so I can read it separately?
