This might not be the perfect definition, but WebKit is an open source
browser engine which can be used to build applications which display web
content. Safari is built on WebKit and Apple has been contributing back
to the project. I think Adobe Air is also being built on it. Safari is
probably the biggest name on the webkit client list which adds some
confusion as many people think Safari==webkit. You can read more about
