Yep, I'm on it now. I honestly don't know why it didn't click with me, but for some reason what I got just didn't fit anywhere inside my expectation of what I was getting and the logic sirckets took a huge dump all over it.

I doubt very much that I'll use this particular build for anything but trash can padding. My pathetic rogers internet takes so long to get pages that I really need that sound or something to tell me when the page is fully loaded. Plus, it crashed on me twice today and didn't perform at all on a really really really huge web page I threw at it. I'll get the next one when it comes out and see what happens.

An update to safari with some minor accessibility improvements would be very nice, but what I'm awaiting with sweaty palms is the new adium with facebook IM support. Maybe it will support group mode viewing of chat logs as well? ...but then again, maybe I'm just greedy, smiles.

Hey Eric. You can just open up web kit like you would any other application. If you want it to open up links from e-mails and the like, go in to preferences, and under the general section, select web kit for the default browser. I probably won't do this myself because it seems quite buggy, though that's to be expected from a nightly build. So far I've noticed that it seems slower to load pages, the link chooser doesn't work, and it doesn't make the VoiceOver page loaded noise. This last is a minor thing I know, but I have gotten used to that noise being there. Still though, it's great that people can now use those list boxes if they encounter them. Hopefully this change will make it in to safari in the not too distant future.

Hi greg, I'm a simple boy, smiles. What is the point of downloading it if it can't be installed overtop of or used to upgrade the version on my apple system? How do I test webpages with it?

Thanks,

Downloading WebKit will have no effect on your Apple installed version of Safari or the underlying WebKit in the OS.

Aright folks,

I just downloaded the new nightly build of webkit and ran it. I got the warning about running applications from a disc image and hit the open button. A web page popped up saying, "thank you for installing the nightly build of webkit", or words to that effect. Nothing seems to have changed in safari though. How do I know I'm running the newest build of webkit? Can I check that somewhere?

Thanks,
erik burggraaf

The nightly build of WebKit, from which we get Safari has fixed the bug with selection boxes in web forms. This bug made some web form controls invisible to VoiceOVer and has been a critical issue for some time. Those affected by this may wish to download the WebKit nightly build and try it out.
