Dear James,
I used to have the same problem. I copy the file I want to place
somewhere else. I locate the folder into which I want to copy the
file. I open it first and then I use the command+accent to move to the
folder hwich I've just opened. And then I copy the file with vommand
+v. Hope it will help.
