Hi Chelsea.  In order to delete bookmarks, you need to bring up the  
bookmarks window.  You do this from the show all bookmarks option  
under the bookmark menu, or you can just hit command option b.  You'll  
see two tables.  The first of these shows the various bookmark  
collections, and the second shows the bookmarks themselves.  You just  
press delete on the backmarks in this second table that you want to  
get rid of.
