OutSpoken will only run on MacOS System 8 or 9. ESpeak or MBROLA will not run in those earlier version of the OS.

Until we can get eSpeak voices ported into the Mac Speech Manager, and only apple can provide that, we will not be able to use those voices for screen reading. I do provide a small utility program for recording with eSpeak voices and may, if need modify DTBmaker to work with them.

I'm interested in trying Outspoken for the Mac. I don't want to
replace VoiceOver. I just need it for the modern form of a language
that everyone seems to have forgotten and from which 25% of English
originates. lol Seriously, though, can it handle ESpeak or MBROLA?
Can it even work on OS 10? I found a demo of it but it said os 8 and
9. If not, can anyone please recommend another screenreader that will
work with Leopard? Btw, not messing with Unix unless I absolutely
have to, so that's out.
