Thank you to all of you who have helped. I may decide to get one but I will certainly take a look at the trial version.

Best wishes

Hi James,

I'll just add a few comments to what Tim, Shaun, and others have
said about dot Mac. With a dot Mac account, even a free trial 60-day
dot Mac account, you'll be able to iChat with other AOL and dot Mac
users, and I think you can continue to use the login name even after
the trial period expires. The default sign-up procedure uses a
CAPTCHA, and is not accessible, but if you buy your Mac from an
Apple Store you can have them set up a dot Mac account for you at
the time they configure your machine.

I think there are some iWeb features that are not accessible, but that's
separate from everything else that Tim and Shaun have mentioned.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi James,

You wrote: Does anyone on the list use .mac? Would you say that is is
accessible and worth the payment?

TK: I use it for the Backup program, eMail, the web-site hosting,
sharing files between home, work and others as well as its syncing
features. There are numerous other features that are available such
as photo sharing and printing, greeting cards, photo albums and other
such related things. Everything I use it for is accessible and very
worth the price.
