Like I said the update thing is flaky and I experienced the same thing you did with 1.1.2 not updating even with the auto update checked. Other than that I think with a few tweaks we can make it play nice. Some of the issues falls on Apple and how they do things, but if we call them on it eventually we'll have a pretty good setup. There may be some changes that I will make because when I'm reading something I don't want the Growl notification messing up and starting me over, but other than that it should be fine.

Hi Shaun, I may not be the best one to comment on this, (see below) but mine shows up as it always has.

I tried updating to 1.1.3 from 1.1.2 via auto update, but even though it downloaded and said it had installed fine, my Growl still showed up as version 1.1.2.

So, I needed to do a few tricks to try uninstalling 1.1.2 and after some minor annoyance, I finally was able to get 1.1.2 uninstalled, and the latest ver installed successfully.

Now, I didn't remove my preference pane, but did remove the receipts as well as running the uninstall app which comes in the image with the new ver, before doing the current install of Growl. So I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my current install shows as the proper version and also reads as it has before.

To be honest, this is the only real sticking point for me with Growl. I absolutely dislike the MS approach (if you will) of installing software 'into' the system, so that it leaves components all over the blasted place, and can be a royal PIMA to uninstall or deal with manually, if need be.

In version 1.1.2 even though I did have the auto update checkbox checked, it still didn't see that there was an update, nor did it download anything even after I unchecked and rechecked the box; I had to do it manually by clicking the update button. So it seems as if it's a bit of a kluge?… -Just my thoughts at the moment. :) <smile>

Anyway, so the practical upshot of all this is that I'm not actually sure if this uninstall / new install is completely proper. It does seem to work so far, so we'll see…

Anyway, shaun, please do keep me / the list informed if you would? I'm really interested in what we can do with Growl, as it can be quite a valuable tool if it can play nice. :) <smile>

have a great evening and talk with ya soon!…

Smiles,

Cara :)

Listers has anyone installed the new version of Growl? What I've found is that I have no applications in the applications list and no way of adding them. I have also noticed that the alerts are all the system default sounds and it no longer has the speak using the system voice feature. Can anyone who has installed this preference pain confirm or deny this?
