There's a really good book from O'Riley called AppleScript the missing  
manual.  It's a few years old, I think it came out when 10.3 was out.   
I've been through it, and it doesn't seem that dated.  It's possible  
there's been a new edition since then.  I know bookshare has it, so if  
you use that service, you could get it there.
