I have found that some sites work better with VoiceOver when you use the version made to be viewed on cell phones. Here is an example.

I use flightstats.com for checking on flight delays, wait time at security, parking and other airport related information. It's a great site but kind of busy. However they have a mobile version at http://mobile.flightstats.com which is very simple to navigate with VoiceOver (and by sight as well I might point out.)

Very often the sites designed for phone are simpler, load faster and are easier to use than the main site is.
