having seen a few post regarding tabs, page numbering and other such
matters on the list of late I thougth I would add a few comments here.
TextEdit is a fine little program but it is not a full scale word
processor. For that something like OpenOpffice beta 3 is a better
choice. Or you could move all the way up to the king of document
processing and use TeX and/or LaTeX.
These are true document processing tools which, once learned will
produce document of unrivaled quality. TeX and LaTeX. are command
driven system well suited for the blind who will be assured of perfect
output by them. The learning curve is steep bu you will be rewarded in
the end for learning it. These programs can handle things like
footnotes, references, bibliographies and whole books in a way that no
other methods can. You can even typeset mathematics with them.
TeXShop is the leading implementation of TeX on the Mac, it is free
and VoiceOver compatible and can be found here: http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop/
